A Research Of "Rewi Alley And Honghu"

Rewi Alley is a prominent social activist,writer and educator from New Zealand,and he is one of “the Top Ten International Friends of China”.He spent 60 years in China,and visited Honghu five times and participated in a great deal of cross-culture communication in Honghu district.This thesis is to regard Rewi Alley and "the spirit of Honghu " as the research objects,to analyze the historical background of "the spirit of Honghu ",the evolution of "the spirit of Honghu " and the current spread predicament,in such a way of interdisciplinary perspective,and to study the practical significance of "the spirit of Honghu".The introduction part introduces the source of the topic,and gives a detailed description of the current domestic research on Rewi Alley from three aspects which are educational ideology,his ideology of industrial development and literary works research.In the meantime,it summarizes the research profile in respect of "Rewi Alley and Honghu" in China and abroad.Finally,it clearly states the research methods and innovations of this thesis.The second chapter is a brief introduction to the biographical information of Rewi Alley.This chapter consists of two parts,one is regarding his life experience before coming to China,and the other is about his life experience after coming to China.The family education in Rewi Alley's childhood and his youth participation in the war had influenced his achievement after coming to China.Through the biographical introduction of Rewi Alley,we can see the significance of Rewi Alley in Chinese history.The third chapter is the initiation of "the spirit of Honghu " by Rewi Alley.It discusses the historical background,the process and the evolution of "the spirit of Honghu ",and the influence of Rewi Alley to Honghu.The fourth chapter is the disseminating predicament and solution of Rewi Alley former residence in Honghu.Through a random questionnaire and three field visits,it was found that Rewi Alley's former residence in Honghu had been decaying for a long period in the local area,and the hidden reasons for this phenomenon is disclosed,that are the limitation of Honghu's own conditions,the scarcity of propaganda and Research on Rewi Alley and Honghu,as well as the neglect of mainstream ideology of the society towards " Rewi Alley and Honghu ".In the conclusion of this part,it proposes solutions to the dilemma of propagating "Rewi Alley and Honghu ".The fifth chapter is about the enlightenment of trans-culture communication from "Rewi Alley and Honghu ".It discusses the practical significance of "Rewi Alley and Honghu " to the creation of tourist city and the dissemination of tourism culture in Honghu from three perspectives,which are epistemology,practicalism and methodology,.Furthermore,it discusses the enlightenment of trans-culture communication from three points—the Chinese problems in trans-culture communication ? the cultural identity and the relationship of globalization and localization.This thesis is to be based on the perspective of trans-culture communication,analyzes the reasons "Rewi Alley and Honghu " faded from people's memory,and through which it triggers the deep thinking towards the practical significance of "the spirit of Honghu " and thus probes into the significance of "Rewi Alley and Honghu " to trans-culture communication.
