Practice Report On The Translation Of 99 MW Wind Power Plant Operating Procedures From The Perspective Of Register Theory

Along with the prosperity of international trade,business contract,as the crucial part of the business communication and negotiation among the parties involved in the international commercial activities,has received extensive attention and been widely applied.In order to gain an edge in the international competition through importing foreign capital,advanced technology and talents,China should attach more importance to the enhancement of the quality and accuracy of contract translation.As a significant component of Systematic Functional Linguistics,Register Theory considers the dimensions of field,tenor and mode as three variables of register,impacting ideational,interpersonal and textual meanings of the text respectively.This study applies Register Theory formulated by Halliday to translation practice to discuss how to realize the register correspondence in contract translation.The author also hopes that the analysis in this thesis can shed some new light in the further practice and study on contract translation.This thesis falls into four parts.Part one is a brief introduction of the contract text and the requirements of the translation task;Part two describes the theoretical and practical preparation,the translating process and the correction and conclusion after the translation;Part three illustrates,from the dimensions of field,tenor and mode,how does the author translate the contract text and manage to achieve equivalence in ideational,interpersonal and textual meanings under the instruction of Register Theory;Part four is a conclusion and review of the whole process of translation practice.
