With the gradual implementation and deepening of China’s reform and opening-up, there are increasing communications and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises. However, language is the first obstacle for the successful cooperation. As a result, translation is more and more needed. As an official legal document to divide bilateral rights and liability as well as share losses and profits, contract plays a fundamental role. Both parties will definitely raise the standards of the quality of contract translation. In recent years, academic circles have attached more and more attention to the study of contract translation and fruitful results have been achieved, thus providing strong support for the development of contract translation. This paper takes the practice of contract translation as an example to make a thorough analysis of the theories, laws and techniques of contract translation in hopes of raising the efficiency of translation.In light of the fact that this paper is based on the author’s practice, the preparation is firstly introduced at the beginning. The first three chapters are respectively about the task description, the translation process and translation theories. The fourth chapter mainly talks about the principles, laws and techniques of contract translation with cases as the examples. The last part is a conclusion and some thoughts of this paper.
