With the deepening of globalization,China's connection with other countries has become increasingly closer, and the demand for simultaneous interpretation has also increased. In international conferences,SI with text has become very common. Therefore, the quality comparison between SI with and without text has been widely discussed. In order to specifically explore this question in a higher-difficulty scenario, this thesis will set "high-speech-rate" as the premise and target student interpreters for experimental research. Its conclusion will be of great significance to the future C-E interpretation practice and teaching.Based on Effort Model proposed by Daniel Gill, this thesis first predicts the quality of SI with and without text in the high-speech-rate scenario. Then, the author invited several students from GSTI to conduct an experiment,in which they were divided into two groups to interpret with and without text.Their recordings were later collected and scored by accuracy, coherence, skills applied, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar, and the average score of each group was calculated. Finally, the experimental results were compared with the prediction, and the differences and causes of the two are discussed.Corresponding suggestions are given to C-E simultaneous interpretation and teaching. The experimental results show that:in high-speech-rate C-E interpretation, the delivery quality of student interpreters without text is generally higher than that of those with text, but the advantage is not significant. The accuracy of SI with text is significantly higher than that of SI without text, which is mainly reflected in the transmission efficiency of information points and detailed information such as numbers;but in terms of coherence, skills applied, vocabulary, and grammar,SI without text outperforms SI with text.
