This paper mainly studies the verbs with the meaning of pretending in modern Chinese as a special category in the counter-factive verb.Using the method of qualitative analysis, this paper selects the verb "pretending" as the typical case of the category of these verbs, then classifies its object first, and then discusses the true value of the object and the true value of the various syntactic components in the object, and draws the reverse of verbs with the meaning of pretending and tries to explain the reasons for the true and false differentiation of the object. This paper is divided into 4 parts: the background part, the analysis part, the synthesis part and the conclusion part. Background: the first, second chapter of this paper. The first chapter is the introduction. It introduces the background of this study and identifies the research objects and methods. The second chapter is the summary of the research. It collates and reviews the existing research results from three aspects,namely,counter-factive verbs, pretending verbs and pretending acts.Analysis part: the third, fourth chapter of this paper. The third chapter divides the object of the pretend verb into 3 categories: adjectives, nouns and verbs, and analyzes the truth values of the objects in each category. The fourth chapter is the summary of the third chapter's analysis and discussion. In the fourth chapter,we first summarize the semantic features of the third chapter of the object as true and the proposition as false and draw a conclusion that when the object contains only the semantic feature of acting, the object is true. When the object contains the semantic feature of the state(false appearance),the object is false. Then,we focus on the case of pretending verb object as a clause.By examining the semantic negation of pretense verbs on predicates, adverbials and complements in the clause,we can determine the counter-factive scope of the pretense verbs.Comprehensive part: the fifth and sixth chapters of this paper.First, this chapter determines the counter-factive scope of the pretense verb, which is to determine the semantic features of the semantic(false appearance)of [+ state]: 1.according to the type of false appearance: [+ consciousness activity](including [+ mental activity],[+ mental activity] and [+ intention]),[+ physiological state],[+ identity / relationship],[+ disposition] and [+ line] For state);2.According to the possibility of illusion: [+ negation],[+existing],[+judgement];3.,according to the state of illusion: [+ range],[+ degree],[+ already].Secondly, this chapter explains the reasons for the true and false differentiation of the object: 1.false action is the element of pretending behavior.2.the counter-factive ability of the pretense verb is related to the subjectivism of the object. The illusion is the subjective judgement of the speaker according to the objective existence of false action. Therefore,[+ state] has strong subjectivity and strong objectivity. The pretending verb is a high-level predicate, which represents the subjective judgment of the speaker and has the meaning of [+ negative, judgment].This subjective judgment can not negate the objective existence of the person's will, but can negate the subjective cognition of the person,so the subjective object has a semantic interface to the false verb of the pretending verb. This chapter also lists two phenomena that can support the reason. Finally, this chapter also analyzes the counter-factive ability of the verb with the meaning of pretending to the action object, and we think that the these verbs can negate the result of some action object. Finally, the sixth chapter,we discriminate the pretence verbs and combine them with teaching. The conclusion part: This chapter summarizes the main points of this paper, points out the innovation and deficiency of the research results, and defines the direction for further research.
