As traditional cross-cultural activity,translation studies was born and cultivated in cultural soil of human society and ecological environment.With ecological theory booming globally,an increasing number of scholars are turning to theoretical study of translation from ecological perspective based on adaption,selection and existence factors.Under the current economic globalization and multiculturalism background,cultural soft power is becoming a globally recognized standard to measure development level of a country or a region.As a result,to protect national cultural security and resist cultural hegemony,translation and research of classic Chinese literary works such as Shijing are of vital importance.This thesis focuses on descriptive and comparative research on three of the most representative English versions of Guofeng,the folk songs of Shijing,from eco-translatology perspective.Meanwhile,attention will be paid to interpretation of the content and feature of methodology application in eco-translatology study,in other words,similarity analogy,concept transplantation and three-dimensional transformation.Explanation of the practicality and specific application scope of the theories will contribute to deeper and more comprehensive understanding and appreciation of Shijing Guofeng and its English versions.The three versions were born in quite different ecological environment and are strongly engraved with unique cultural and historical brand,accordingly,they are of different aesthetic and artistic value.Comparative analysis of the three versions from eco-translatology perspective will broaden research field of Shijing Guofeng and its English versions,and will further interpret explanatory power and practical meanings of eco-translatology theory,thus popularizing application of the theory in literary translation studies.
