Robert Schuhmann is a musician and composer in the romantic period,who had created different types of works in his lifetime such as piano works,art songs,oratorios,symphonies and chamber music.His music is full of the poet's passion and fantasy under the influence of the literary trend of romanticism and the time.Moreover,Robert Schuhmann was also a music critic who had published numerous articles to criticize the vulgar style of German music on Neue Zeitschrift fur Musik which was established by himself.He was a shiny star in the German music history in the first half of the nineteenth century.By using the case of Sonata No.1 for Piano in#f Minor,this paper will analyze this artwork itself(its musical structure,features of tonality and acoustic characteristics)and the key points of performance.The analysis above is helpful to understand and appreciate the Schuhmann's piano works' content and image.
