The Survival Of Transgression

Man does not begin with freedom,but with limits that cannot be crossed.The issue of limits is always the essence of human freedom.Throughout Foucault’s theory,from the early“history of madness”,which connects the “limits” with “subjectivation”,to the late “what is the Enlightenment?”,cutting into the exploration of “subjectivation” with the subject of“limit-attitude”,Foucault’s thinking on the subject has never been separated from the limits and transgressive.As the limit of modern man,the subject is a necessary essence not necessarily the essence,but a kind of “form”,which is made out of the form of limit in Foucault’s view.There are three major areas of historical practice in human society: relations of control over things,relations of action upon others,relations with oneself.Through the three “subjectivation”modes of“setting limits”,“dividing limits”,and“internalizing limits”,people are shaped as the subject of knowledge,power and morality.Words and actions are being ruled and enslaved.Therefore,Foucault no longer criticizes the nature of human beings in the form of necessary limitation,but criticizes them in the form of possible transgression.Critique does not seek transcendental,universal,and essential boundaries,but rather examines the unique,accidental,and arbitrary components of limits in order to explore the possibility of transgression.Modern man does not judge what we think,speak,or do,according to the current form,but on the basis of physical practice,to beyond the limits that lead us to acquire another possibility of existence,to be not,to think,to say what it cannot,to do what it cannot,to get rid of the certainty and uniqueness of the self,to achieve the survival of transgression.Among them,literature has explored the possibility of existence and provided people with an aesthetic transcendence method of survival.
