The time sequence principle refers to that the chronological order of the two syntactic units is determined by the relative time order of the concepts they represent(Haoyi Dai,1988:1).Some prepositional structures in Chinese and English emphasizes the chronological order, such as: "he comes here by bus." "I will wait for him until he comes here",but some prepositional structures do not emphasize or follow the chronological order. The former, like: "he is sitting in bed." "We will meet again on 23 May 2018";the latter, like : "he died in the kitchen." My sister began to learn the piano from the age of five. This thesis takes sequence of Chinese and English prepositional structure as the research object,And the purpose is to put forward syntactic and semantic conditions of the time sequence principle of Chinese and English prepositional structures and to compare the respectively amount of them, then to prove that most of Chinese prepositional structures in a sentence highlight the principles of time sequence.at the same time,to research on the cognitive reasons why they highlight the time sequence principle, then to understand the order of their prepositional structures and the syntax structure framework deeply.Conform to the time sequence in Chinese and English prepositional structure sentences which follow the time sequence reflects the consistency of reality, cognition and language, twice filter reduction from reality to cognition then to language reflects the inconsistency of reality, cognitive and language. It is understandable that different language communities express the same time sequence of events in different word order, and the word order is not in conformity with the actual sequence of events. It is this kind of phenomenon that forms the colorful languages.
