The Twenty-Four Poetic Styles recorded under the name of Sikongtu is a poetic book composed of 24 four-character poems. It has always been known for its depth and incomprehensibility. The incomprehension of "Shi Pin" has great relation to the use of "Imagist Criticism" as a method of discussing poems.A systematic analysis and study of this not only helps to reveal the hidden meaning of "Shi Pin",but also demonstrates its unique aesthetic value.Taking "image criticism" as an entry point and proceeding from raw materials, this paper discusses the special value of the poetic theory of "Shi Pin" and Chinese traditional methods of criticism. This is the basic idea of this article. The full text is divided into four parts. The first chapter traces the theoretical origins of the "ideological criticism" in the Twenty-Four Poetic Styles. As one of the critical methods of the richest national characteristics in ancient China, the development of image criticism can be traced back to the two philosophical sources of “Zhouyi” and Laozhuang. The propositions of taking the image of the Book of Changes and the idea of "establishing the image as the best",Laozi and Zhuangzi's intuitive thinking and the proposition of "forgetting over words" have far-reaching influence on the development of the "imaging" theory in later generations. The second chapter, from the perspective of aesthetics, systematically analyzes the aesthetic style and aesthetic requirements of the "ideological criticism" in the Twenty-Four Poetic Styles.Contacting specific items and analyzing their composition and performance are divided into four parts: the aesthetic style of the magnificent, the elegant style, the aesthetic requirements of the creation of poetry, and the aesthetic requirements of poetry appreciation. The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of "ideological criticism" in the Twenty-Four Poetic Styles. From the foregoing analysis,it can be concluded that the image criticism of "Shi Pin" includes three characteristics: poetry style according to artistic realm, combination of image depiction and abstract reasoning, pluralistic imagery and spiritual character. The three together created the aesthetic features of "Shi Pin" as reserveness, and infination.Chapter IV makes a value judgment on the image criticism of the Twenty-Four Poetic styles. The image criticism of "Shi Pin" breaks through the traditional image criticism of the "person-item problem" model, and begins to refer to poetry style by creating artistic conception. The image criticism of "Poetry" itself is a kind of creation. The aesthetic space created by multiple images also makes readers better participate in creation and criticism activities.
