As a mirror of human existence,documentaries are inextricably linked with the underprivileged minority,whose affliction can show through the construction of documentary.In the 90s,a genre of documentaries started focusing on ordinary people,underprivileged minority,and achieved beyond the aesthetic system of traditional documentary,after the "New Documentary Movement in China".Recently,more documentaries focusing on the bottom class have change the mainstream attitude toward the marginalized members of society,and became some sort of the Self-reflected Texts of Ethnography of the film directors.Setting "New Documentary Movement in China" as a starting point,this study mainly aims to summaries the development context of underprivileged minority in the history of documentary.Through Xu Tong's "Trilogy of Vagrant",the study specifically analyzes how the underprivileged minorities are constructed and what kind of concepts the director constructed with,based on which the study rethinks the social meaning and ethic function of documentaries on the bottom class people.
