This thesis contrasts the auxiliary words in Japanese and English by the method of contrastive linguistics,and explores the language transfer between the two foreign languages.For the moment,the first foreign language learned by most Chinese students is English and the second foreign language is mainly Japanese.To improve students' ability in learning efficiency and to reduce to make errors,the measure of contrast between mother tongue and foreign language has been widely used.Also,it will help students to master the two foreign languages better at the same time by contrasting L2 and L3.Auxiliary words are taken as the starting point in this thesis.Through comparing auxiliary words in both Japanese and English,the author summarizes the positive language transfer and negative language transfer.The summary will help students to increase their knowledge of L3 by using L2 and consolidate L2 by learning L3.
