The Influence Of Social Appraisal On Pro Social Behavior In Social Rejection

Prosocial behavior refers to the acts of breach of social rules or moral norms,such as destruction,attack,etc(Weisberg),it is an important concept in social psychology.Pro social behavior includes helping behavior,altruistic behavior,cooperative behavior,consolation behavior,and sharing behavior,etc.Social exclusion refers to the phenomenon that individuals suffer from the rejection,exclusion or devaluation of individuals who want to establish relationships with others in social interaction,so that their attribution needs or relationship needs can not beachieved(Mac Donald & Leary).Social exclusion to from cognitive,emotional and behavioral aspects of impact on individuals.Social evaluation means that,in addition to the event itself,the behavior,thinking and feelings of others in emotional situations will also be evaluated(Manstead & Ficher),this means that the individual's evaluation of emotional events will be influenced by other individuals' evaluation of the event.Most researchers now believe that social exclusion of the prosocial behavior of the individual brief or lasting negative effects.On the basis of the existing research,this study joins the "social evaluation" of independent variables and explores the impact of social evaluation on Pro social behavior under the condition of social exclusion.The college students of this study are the subjects of the Shenyang Normal University,This research adopted experimental method to research the influence of social evaluation on individual Pro social behavior under the condition of social exclusion.This research include two experiment,to examines the impact of social appraisal on the individual's Pro social behavior.The experiment uses a refusal paradigm to induce social exclusion situation,adopted experimental method to research the influence of social evaluation on individual Pro social behavior under the condition of social exclusion.Using single factor experiment design,the independent variable is social exclusion and social appraisal.Research result that:When the individuals in the face of the others with different social evaluation,and when the individuals get different social evaluations,in terms of pro-social positive and negative scores,social exclusion criteria and social evaluation have significant main effects.When social exclusion conditions are different and the nature of social evaluation is different,there are significant differences in individual's pro-social behavior.On the pro-social positive score,there is a significant interaction between the conditions of social exclusion and the nature of social evaluation.While one the pro-social negative score,there are no significant differences in individual's pro-social behavior.
