In the "Nature" chapter of The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons,Liu Xie has put forward the "Help-from-Nature" proposition that admits "Nature" acts an important role in a writer's literary creation.However,he hasn't made accurate inference to what "Nature" is.The thought source of " Help-from-Nature " is the theory of " Nature and Man in One " and "Sense of Things",and liu xie's " Help-from-Nature" theory refers to the promoting effect of natural landscape on creation.In Liu's eyes,"Nature" refers to all the natural landscape.Nature contributes to the cultivation of one's sentiment and disposition.A wide travel around mountains and rivers broadens one's horizon;a pure enjoyment of scenic beauty shuffles off one's mortal coil;a peaceful meditation in nature makes one perfectly blend in.Nature provides a wide repertoire of poetry materials –tranquility and serenity in forestation,expansiveness and vastness of the ether and river,darkness and precipitousness of cavern and mountain.In such a poetic world,literary creation becomes so simple that random dictions make a beautiful line.It is nature that provides abundant materials for various kinds of literary and artistic forms such as poetry,prose,calligraphy and painting.In the vast territory of China,the inner beauty of nature varies in style among different places.Creators make different travels to bask in different poetic natures and bring about works of distinct styles.The nature a poet is exposed to exerts a significant influence on his/her writing style.For example,Li Bai's poems are characterized by the flowing and smooth diction;Du Fu's works are reflections of the depressing and weighty reality;Wang Wei excels in depiction of the ethereal and serene beauty.Nature contributes to the creation of various literary works such as poetry,prose,painting and calligraphy.Contrariwise,literary works facilitate the interpretation of nature itself.Works shape more vivid and well-rounded images for nature in a humanistic way and in turn such nature-images attract more refined scholars to make their exploration and thus create more outstanding literary works.They influence and complement each other.
