Micro-expressions are fleeting facial expressions that are important for judging people' s true emotions.Previous studies have shown that micro-expressions are effective cues in understanding real intentions of individuals. While, due to the short duration of micro-expressions,it' s hard for common people to recognize them.According to reaches, facial feedback takes part and provides false information in the recognition process of micro-expressions.However,these studies failed to distinguish the regional sources of facial feedback.A recent study shows that in the recognition process of micro-expressions,expressions showed on the lower face play a bigger role in the perceptual process and can even conceal the perception of emotion information on the upper face.It reminds that in the recognition process of micro-expressions,false information of facial feedback comes from the lower face. Therefore, amplifying facial feedback of the lower face may reduce the accuracy of micro-expression recognition while amplifying the facial feedback of the upper face may increase the accuracy.Restraining the feedback of the lower face and face to improve the accuracy of the recognition of the micro expression.Studies on this issue will deepen researchers'understanding of the recognition process of micro-expressions and lay theory foundation for micro-expression recognition training's.Employing the paradigm of JACBART,the study investigated the influences produced by enhancing facial feedbacks of different facial parts on the recognition of micro-expressions with high intensity level(Experience 1)and low intensity level(Experience 2)through enhancing upper and lower faces'muscles constrictions(having facial masks).Restraining the feedback of the lower face and face to improve the accuracy of the recognition of the micro expression(Experience 3).The study results of Experiment 1 showed that compared with the control condition(having facial masks on the upper non-dominant inner arm),amplifying facial feedback of the upper face significantly enhanced the recognition accuracy of micro-expressions with high intensity level in the duration of 450 ms;while enhancing facial feedback of the lower face had no significant effects on the recognition of micro-expressions with high intensity level under conditions of all the durations(50 ms,150 ms,333 ms and 450 ms).The study results of Experiment 2 revealed that compared with the control condition, enhancing facial feedbacks of the lower face significantly reduced the recognition accuracy of micro-expressions with low intensity level while amplifying facial feedbacks of the upper face had no significant influences on the recognition accuracy of micro-expressions with low intensity level under conditions of all the durations(50 ms,150 ms,333 ms and 450 ms).The study results of Experiment 3 revealed that the inhibition of lower half face feedback would enhance the recognition accuracy of micro expression. These results indicate that facial feedback takes part in the recognition process of micro-expressions,but facial feedbacks in different parts have inconsistent influences on micro-expression recognition, whieh is possibly resulted from differences that lie in the brain mechanism which controls muscles of the upper and lower faceS?They also suggest that repressing facial feedback of the lower face may drive micro-expression recognition accuracy up.
