Cognitive activities require attentional participation and consume certain attention resources, and facial expression recognition is no exception. When an individual constructs the emotional meaning of expression in the brain,it is necessary to integrate and process the facial muscle activity characteristic information with the accompanying situational information, and then label its meaning. In this process, the cognitive integration of different situational information and facial expressions requires individuals to allocate attention to different degrees. In addition,in addition to general facial expressions, microexpressions,as a special facial expression, require a large amount of attention resources in cognitive processing.Recognition of general facial expressions and micro expressions with the same situational information also requires individuals to allocate attention to different degrees.Previous studies have found that processing social situational information(text description presentation)requires more cognitive resources than processing background color, and processing micro-expressions requires more cognitive resources than processing general facial expressions. Therefore, this experiment takes social scene information and background color as a set of attention conditions, and general facial expressions and micro-expressions as a set of attention conditions. In real facial expression recognition, the individual’s recognition process integrates the situational clues with the expression features to identify them. Therefore, four different attention conditions are paired and considered in the experiment. This study was divided into two parts and four experiments. The subjects were screened through the social maladjustment subscale in the MMPI,and the subjects with the same social adaptability were selected for the experiment.Experiment 1 adopted 3(social situation information: positive, neutral and negative)*3(general facial expression: positive, neutral and negative).Experiment 2 adopted 3(social situation information: positive, neutral and negative)*3(micro expression: positive, neutral and negative).Experiment 3 adopted 2(background colors: red and blue)*3(general facial expressions: positive, neutral and negative).Experiment 4 adopted 2(general background colors: red and blue)*3(micro expressions: positive, neutral and negative). The dependent variables of the four experiments were correct rate and response time.Experiment 1 and experiment 2 compared and explored the influence of general facial expression and micro expression as different attention conditions on facial expression recognition in the context of social situation information described by words by manipulating facial expressions.Experiment 1 and experiment 3 explored the influence of two different attention conditions, namely, the social situation information described by words and the natural situation information presented by background color,on the general facial expression recognition by manipulating the situation information.Experiment 2 and experiment 4 also explored the influence on micro-expression recognition by manipulating different situational information.Experiments 3 and 4 explored the influence of different attention conditions, such as general facial expression and micro expression,on facial expression recognition by manipulating facial expressions to explore the natural situation presented by background color.According to the experimental results, the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)The influence of social context information(text face familiar)on general facial expression recognition is greater than the effect on micro-expression recognition.(2)The text description has a greater influence on the general facial expression recognition than the background color.(3)The effect of text description and background color on micro-expression recognition is not significant.(4)The effect of background color on general facial expression recognition and microexpression recognition is not significant.
