According to the author's two years' overseas teaching practice,this paper makes a survey and analysis on the design of Chinese comprehensive course homework in Malta,based on the theory of second-language learning.The analysis based on 68 students' questionnaires,and 10 teachers' questionnaires,as well as individual interview,also use different methods like classroom observation,case analysis and so on,explaining and discussing the problems existing in the homework design,the strategy to solve problems and 10 cases of homework,aimed at improving the students' learning efficiency,realize the positive influence of homework for Chinese teaching.During the teaching period,the author found that Chinese language development in Malta is good,but homework,especially extra-curricular homework,has been neglected in Chinese teaching,with many problems.In order to understand the current situation of Chinese homework,the author selected the Confucius institute at the university of Malta,the Chinese culture center,Lifelong Learning school as the research object,the present situation of Chinese teaching and extra-curricular homework assignments of these three institutions are analyzed in the text.Then discusses the main factors which can influence the homework design of Chinese comprehensive course in Malta from three aspects:teacher,student,textbooks.Next,the author conducts an investigation on teachers and students according to the difference of roles in the homework.Firstly,this paper analyzes the students'views and Suggestions on homework from four dimensions,such as attitude of homework,amount of homework and difficulty of homework,form of homework,homework inspection and feedback.Secondly,based on the four dimensions which are homework attitude,homework design,homework correction and student assignment completion,the author analyzed the teacher's concept and view of homework.The purpose of this part is to discuss the problems and deficiencies in the design of homework.Through the above research,the author draws the following conclusions,the improper design and the unreasonable implementation process of the homework situation are mainly reflected in:teachers and students do not pay enough attention to homework after class;Lack of Chinese textbooks;Large quantity of homework and low quality;The homework type is single,which cannot arouse students' interest;The relationship between homework and real life is not strong;There is a lack of effective communication between teachers and students.Aiming at these problems,the author puts forward the corresponding suggestions for teachers.The author thinks that,teachers should pay more attention to the homework,increased interactions with students and colleagues,strictly grasp the quantity and difficulty of homework,improve the quality of the work and optimize homework form,increase the proportion of communicative homework,layered homework is designed to adapt to the needs of students in different physical and mental development level,rich of correcting methods of homework,let homework achieve its maximum value.Finally,the author based on her own teaching experience,selected and analyzed ten typical topics of Chinese comprehensive course which are from the commonly textbooks of Chinese teaching,aim to making some reference for homework design in Chinese teaching.
