Interactive teaching is an effective teaching mode proposed by language researchers in Western countries in the 1970s,and has made a substantial development in the 1980s.Sociolinguists believe that language interaction is a cooperative relationship,which involves the establishment of a triangle relationship among the senders,the content and the receiver.According to the forthcoming "Guide to College English Teaching" issued by the Ministry of National Education,the chief aim of College English teaching is to develop students' ability to use English in a well-rounded way,especially in listening and speaking,which ensures an effective communication in English in their future studies,life,careers as well as social interactions.At the same time,they will be able to study independently and have general cultural awareness so as to meet the needs of China's society,universities and individuals' development.It can be drawn from the guidebook that much higher demands were called for toward English teachers and college students because of the development of society.Interaction is an important part of English teaching,realizing a shift from teacher-centered to student-centered.In view of the role of interactive teaching in developing students' foreign language performance,it is considerable to explore the application of interactive teaching.Although quite a lot of researches on interactive teaching have been carried out,there is little discussion about the necessity of applying interactive teaching into Xinjiang minority college English teaching.Thus,the present research mainly adopts the experimental study methodology which lasts for a semester.And the research subjects are 88 freshmen,majoring in marketing management in Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics.They are from two different classes,one of which is the experimental class in which the interactive teaching approach is adopted,while the other is the controlled class which still follows the traditional way.In this research,English tests,questionnaires and interview are also employed.The author uses the quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the collected data.The data of pre-test and post-test were analyzed and compared by SPSS20.0(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).The purpose of this study is:1.to explore what effects the interactive teaching has on the minority students' English achievements;2.to analyze the effects of the interactive teaching on the minority students' interest and attitude in English learning.According to the statistical and comparative analysis,the research proves that the application of Interactive teaching method for Xinjiang minority students is feasible,not only improving students' communicative competence and language proficiency,but also having a positive influence on improving the minority students'English learning interests,changing their English learning attitude.In the interactive teaching,the students become the real participants and masters of learning,which has great significance to promote the development of English teaching for the minority students in Xinjiang.Through the research,this thesis puts forward some effective suggestions on the interactive strategies of Xinjiang minority students' learning and then enriches and popularizes these interactive teaching strategies.
