Aggressive behavior is an important part of children's social development.Previous studies have shown that father involvement plays an important role in child aggression, but the measurement of father involvement focuses on direct interaction with children.Father involvement consists of multiple dimensions, including not only interactions with children but also other forms of indirect participation in parenting. Therefore, how the father involvement on primary school students' aggression remains to be further explored. This study deeply investigates the influence of father involvement on the aggression of primary school students and the mediating role of maternal parenting stress.Using the method of random sampling, using the peer nomination method, and the Father Involvement Questionnaire, the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form surveyed 604 pupils in grades 1 to 6and parents of one school in Dalian, including 345 boys and 256 girls.Using Mplus to construct a structural equation model, the models were tested in turn, and the results of each model were good. The results showed that:(1)There was a significant negative correlation between father involvement and child aggressive behavior, and a significant negative correlation with maternal parental stress. There was a significant positive correlation between maternal parental stress and child aggressive behavior.(2)Father involvemnt and their three dimensions of engagement, accessibility and responsibility have a negative predictive effect on primary school students' aggressive behavior.(3)The pressure of maternal parenting plays a partial intermediary role between father involvement and pupils' aggressive behavior.(4)The parental distress and parent-child dysfunctional interaction plays a partial mediation role in father involvement and relational aggression on pupils, the parental distress plays a partial mediation role in father involvement with physical aggression on pupils. The results of this study show that father involvement and their different dimensions play an important role in aggressive behavior, and that father involvement can help reduce maternal parenting stress and thus reduce children's aggressive behavior. This study verifies the combined effect of father and mother on children's aggressive behavior, and has certain leading significance for the intervention of primary school students' aggression and coparenting.
