“Appropriation” is an art form that is positive, active, full of expressive, and sense of dialogue. The artist used his own "text" to express himself. The "appropriation" method is accompanied by collisions and fusions in content and expression. This form is direct and powerful and interesting. In the common context,"appropriation" is easy to arouse people's curiosity and attention.Based on artistic conception, the artist expresses they distinctive ideas based on widely known images and different artistic processes.Cindy Sherman(1954-)skillfully uses the "appropriation" method to change her identity through multiple means. She changes image of roles that immersed in different ages, identities and emotions.Under her artistic attitude, vague perceptions and open attitudes increase mystery and leave room for speculation. This article takes Sherman's “Portrait of History” as the main object, discusses how Sherman used the “appropriation” method, and how Scherman's “appropriation of objects” opened the gap in the “appropriation” process.Analyze the reasons, and discuss Sherman's attitude and thinking from the perspective of women.Compared her works with Yasumasa Morimura(1951-)and Hisaji Hara(1964-),and distinguished the artist's methods and attitudes towards “appropriation”.Afterwards, analyzes the Venus series of works in which the painting field "appropriates" and displays the lineage and breakthrough of "misappropriation" in the field of painting.Brief introduction of other "appropriation" types of works,in order to demonstrate the "appropriation" in the wide application of contemporary art.
