A Study Of The Aesthetic Orientation In Figure Modeling

Kids Playing in the Courtyard,as one of the masterpieces in the history of Chinese painting with the theme of playing kids,shows us consummate skills and vivid figures.This paper through an analysis of the unique figure modeling in the painting aims to explore how the artist expressed his thoughts and feelings in creating the figures as to achieve his aesthetic orientation of vivid image with simplicity.This paper is anticipated to be beneficial to the traditional Chinese realistic figure painting.This paper is composed of three parts.The first part provides the social and cultural background of Kids Playing in the Courtyard.The second part focuses on the artist's aesthetic orientation in figure modeling.The third part discusses what enlightenment this painting brings us in composing realistic figure painting.
