On Translation Of Architectural Engineering English From The Perspective Of Translation Aesthetics

Professor Liu Miqing says that translation is a kind of language art and the essence of translation aesthetics is a cross-linguistic and cross-cultural artistic creation(Liu Miqing2005: 203).As people's aesthetic needs have grown,aesthetics has become an increasingly important factor in translation.So far,academic researches on translation from the aesthetic point of view have been quite rich,but most of them are concentrated in the fields of literature,art,and philosophy,with few in the field of architectural engineering.Due to its monotonous form and seemingly boring content,architectural engineering English has been at the bottom of translation field.Translation is an activity that integrates science with artistry.It can never for a moment deviate from artistic choices such as choice of words,sentence adjustments and literary modifications(Liu Miqing2005: 19).Therefore,translation of poetry is an art,and translation of an architectural engineering contract is also an art.The successful translation of architectural engineering is an “artwork” between the two languages.With the vigorous development of the Belt and Road Initiative,the process of world economic integration has been accelerated and international exchanges have been increasingly strengthened.Compared with literary translation,non-literary translation has occupied the absolute demand of the market,much of them being the translation of architectural engineering.People begin to pay more and more attention to architectural engineering translations and their requirements on them are also getting higher and higher.In this case,the combination of the translation of architectural engineering English and translation aesthetics becomes a brand-new research field,and its research value is out of question.As an emerging discipline in China,translation aesthetics uses basic principles of aesthetics,linguistics and culturology to explore aesthetic issues of interlingual transformation in translation.As a special type of scientific and technological style,architectural engineering English has its unique structures and characteristics.For example,there are many professional terms,strict logic,rigorous structures and complex sentence patterns.The translation is an ongoing process of bilingual comprehension,transformation,improvement and representation,which embodies aesthetic consciousness and aesthetic representation.The present thesis,based on the popular aesthetic translation theory both at home and abroad,combining a large number of building materials and engineering examples,systematically discusses the translation of architectural engineering English from the perspective of translation aesthetics and multi-levelly explores the aesthetic factors during the translation of architectural engineering English in order to improve the aesthetic feeling and quality of translation and expand the new field of translation studies for architectural engineering English.The author hopes this study will shed light on translators of architectural engineering English so as to make more in-depth researches in this area,thus creating a translation with integration of professional knowledge dissemination and aesthetic feelings as well as contributing to the translation theory for architectural engineering English more mature.
