Translation consists in producing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent to the message of the source language, first in meaning, and secondly in style. The skopos theory holds that translation should be able to function in a translator's context and culture in a way that the intended recipient of the translingual language looks forward to.In this era of economic globalization, trade and economic English and its translation have played an increasingly important role as the link and bridge of business exchanges between China and other countries in the world. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the translation features of the economic and trade English.Only by becoming familiar with the translation methods of economic and trade English can all international business activities be accomplished with high efficiency, high accuracy and safety. The three principles of the skopos theory provide a guiding method for the translation of economic and trade English. This thesis discusses the translation strategies of the economic and trade English under the guidance of the skopos theory. The author studies the differences between English and Chinese from the aspects of vocabulary, sentence and discourse, and carries out the corresponding case analysis, and then draws the following conclusion: In order to adapt to the function of the text of the translation, the new communicative environment and the requirements of readers, the translator should put himself in the position of the reader of translation in the process of translation and decide his own translation strategy according to the expected function of the translation. That is,the translated text can both express the content of the original text in a coherent manner and conform to the normative and cultural standards of the target language.
