A Translation Report On The Shadow Of The Object

This translation project is selected from The Shadow of the Object,which discusses psychoanalysis and conducts the research from the infants to each period of human being to elaborate the effects on mental states and behaviors brought by the relationship between the object and the subject as well as the subconscious.The project is completed based on the source text which is from Part One Chapter One and Part Three Chapter Thirteen.The purpose of this report is to reproduce the translation process of the source text,pointing out the difficulties and corresponding solutions in the process This report includes five parts:introduction to translation tasks,background knowledge of source text,theoretical framework,translation process and conclusions.Skopos theory is used as the guidance in process,combined with translation methods such as amplification and omission,to solve the three aspects of obstacles,which are technical terminology,psychoanalysis background knowledge and language barrier.Contributed to the parallel texts,the psychoanalysis documents and the books related to translation methods and skills,the translation report comprehensively analyzes the receivers'acceptance ability to the source text,and it provides experts and scholars in this field with a new perspective and research direction.
