Under the background of continuous development of network information, higher education is moving gradually toward internationalization. Domestic universities and colleges give high priority to international communication and cooperation. University web profiles have become an important window for displaying the image of universities. Generally speaking, web profiles are divided into two versions, namely Chinese version and English version, and most English versions are translated from Chinese version. However, since Chinese and English university web profiles have many differences in language, pattern and culture, many English universities web profiles are not as satisfying as expected in the process of international propaganda.The present thesis, starting from the perspective of Skopos theory, and depending on the translation practice of web profiles of Qingdao Technological University, carries out a preliminary exploration on the translation of university web profiles, and puts forward several translation strategies such as addition, abridgement, adaptation and annotation. At the same time, the writer hopes to draw attention from teachers and peers to translation of such texts.Through this translation practice, the writer applies translation theories and knowledge learned before to translation practice, as a result, translation ability has effectively improved; during the process of writing translation report, by referring to related works and theses, the writer has a deeper understanding of web profile translation, and at the same time, abilities of analyzing cases and generalizing strategies are improved.
