| In recent years,China’s rapid development has attracted the world’s attention,thus various countries have been starting to learn from China’s growth and explore what it is behind the country’s rising.The Road of China,a CCTV’s documentary,is just to unfold how China has been growing in the past more than three decades since its reform and opening up.Two episodes of this documentary,The Contribution of China and The Civilization of China mainly show what China’s development has brought to the world and the cultural drivers in its development.In order to make foreign friends know more about China as well as improving the interpreter’s Chinese to English interpreting ability,the interpreter conducts consecutive interpreting of the two episodes and then makes an analysis and a summary of this interpreting practice.Interpretive theory has become relatively influential in the interpreting field.With deverbalization as its core concept,this theory holds that interpreters should focus on conveying the content of the source language rather than its form.That means interpreters should break away from the language form to reproduce the original meaning.This interpreting report is written based on the interpreter’s consecutive interpreting of The Contribution of China and The Civilization of China.Under the guidance of interpretive theory,it analyzes how the interpreting strategies and skills are applied in Chinese to English consecutive interpreting such as addition,deletion,change of words,the use of conjuncture and preposition and sentences reconstruction,aiming to reproduce the content and meaning of the source language.Finally,this report concludes that the preparation prior to interpreting holds the key to the interpreting quality and stresses the guidance of interpreting theories and techniques.It further reflects on the gains and losses of the interpreting practice.With this practice,the interpreter has deeply recognized the necessity of improving professional knowledge and skills and gained a clearer picture of future study.This report is also expected to provide some enlightenment on interpreting practice. |
