A Report On The Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Documentary Aerial China

Geography documentaries bear the weight of exploring nature,introducing social customs and recording urban and rural development,and show the progress of people’s life and society.Interpreting such documentaries will help foreign audiences understand China,thus promoting the spread of Chinese culture and intercultural communication.The author used the forth and sixth episodes of the documentary Aerial China as the materials for the simulated interpretation practice.This report has four parts,including task introduction,task process,case analysis and task conclusion.Task resources,task procedure and task aims are described in the part of task introduction.Task process includes the details of pre-interpreting preparation,interpretation and quality control.In case analysis,the author addresses the importance of balancing the accuracy of interpreting with the characteristics of the source language,and uses translation techniques such as amplification,reduction and conversion to reduce missed translation.In task conclusion,the author summarizes the gains and inspirations and reflects on the problems such as the insufficient bilingual knowledge and missed translation,and proposes that the author should pay attention to pre-translation preparations,strengthen daily accumulation and put theory into practice.The author has gained a deeper understanding of Interpretive Theory from this interpreting practice,which strengthens her ability to combine theory with practice.Meanwhile,the author recognizes her shortcomings during the practice,which also encourages her to continue to improve her bilingual competence and interpreting ability.
