A Practice Report Of Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Based On Interpretive Theory

With the development of economy and the promotion of international status,the exchanges between China and other countries are increasingly frequent.Diplomatic interpreting,as a medium of international communication,has drawn increasing attention.Therefore,the author chooses diplomatic interpreting in this simulated consecutive interpretation practice and uses interpretive theory to guide the practice theoretically.This practice report presents the simulated consecutive interpreting practice based on the keynote speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation(FOCAC).2018 Beijing Summit of the FOCAC was held in Beijing on September 3rd to 4th.The theme of the summit is "win-win cooperation and to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future".This speech is a typical diplomatic speech,which contains lots of political,economic,cultural and other professional terms,as well as many expressions with Chinese characteristics such as parallel sentence structure and serial verb construction.By analyzing the interpreting process of this speech,the author compares her own interpretation with that of the original interpreter in multiple aspects,probes into her own experience in the process of interpreting,and puts forward some effective interpreting methods under the guidance of the theroy.The significance of this practice report is that through this simulated consecutive interpreting practice,the author analyzes the problems that she encountered in the process of interpreting,finds out her own shortcomings,and has a deeper understanding of the process of consecutive interpreting.What's more,the author tries to summarize some interpreting methods through this simulated practice,which lays a foundation for further improving her interpreting skills.
