This thesis is a translation report on the translation practice of the novel The Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze by Elizabeth Louis,a famous American writer for children's book.The thesis selects chapter one of the novel as the source text and provides the corresponding translation in Chinese.The novel is written for children with an inspirational theme.Based on the characteristics of children's literature,and under the guidance of the theory of translator's subjectivity,the thesis attempts to illustrate the lively and vivid feature of children's language in the source text and tries to convey the equivalent literary features connotation with the original novel.In the process of translation,the thesis exerts the translator's subjectivity and adopts a variety of translation methods at the lexical,syntactic and stylistic level respectively,for example,using words like interjections and Onomatopoeias,and polishing colloquial sentences and words helps children to understand source text easily.Through this translation practice,the author of the report realizes the complexity in translating children's literary novels,and,proposes that the theory of a translator's subjectivity has important instructive meaning to the translation practice of children's literature,because it can faithfully and elegantly represent the original content and style.In addition,a good translator should be equipped with a good command of two languages and plenty of cultural knowledge,should acquire more knowledge of translation theories,and should advance the translation ability in various translation activities.
