This report is a case study of the E-C translation of a book entitled Children's Rhymes,Children's Games,Children's Songs,Children's Stories—A Book for Bairns and Big Folk.It describes the reporter's translation process and analyzes the main difficulties he encountered in the process.The report consists of four main parts:description of the translation task,description of the translation process,case analysis and conclusion.First,the report writer describes the translation task,the source text and the significance of the task.Then,the translation process,which is concerned with pre-translation,while translation and post-translation,is elaborated.Chapter 3 is the case analysis,illustrating the translation principles of child-orientation and readability adopted in the report.The translation cases given in this part are analyzed from the perspectives of vividness and fun,musicality,rhetorical devices and sentence structures under the guidance of the two principles so as to discuss the methods and skills of translating children's literature.Child-orientation means to regard children as the center and other people or things have to serve the interests of children.And readability refers to the value and appreciation of reading.The final chapter summarizes the major translation difficulties and limitations of the translator in the hope that he can do much better when translating the same type of texts in the future.
