Research On Xun Zi's Theory Of "Zhi"

The "Zhi"(?)in the context of Xun Zi generally includes three implications:cognition,knowledge and wisdom.Based on this,this paper is divided into three chapters:the theory of cognition,the theory of knowledge,and the theory of wisdom.The so-called cognition theory is about the theory of human cognitive activities.Cognition is a process of dynamic development.It contains a series of processes of how human cognition occurs and develops.The affirmation of cognitive ability is the prerequisite for all cognitive activities to be carried out.At the same time,cognitive ability is also the cornerstone of Xun Zi's construction of his theoretical system.The process of cognitive ability interacting with external object is the process of cognition's occurrence and development.This process consists of two stages:"Organs sense objects " and "Heart Verifies".The verification function of mind is based on the premise of its thorough pureness.However,the "heart" is often beclouded because of subjective and objective reasons.People's cognition is easy to fall into one-sidedness.Therefore,in the cognitive activity,it cannot Relying solely on the guiding of the "heart" to the organs,it is also necessary to further clean up the activities of the "heart" itself.This requires a method of self-cultivation.The so-called knowledge theory is about the theory that human beings knowledge achievements.Due to the limitation of cognitive ability of human,Xun Zi confines the content of knowledge to the "five classics" and believes that learning is the most convenient approach to obtain knowledge.Simply increasing the amount of knowledge is not the purpose of Xun Zi,he thinks that the significance of learning knowledge lies in self-cultivation.The so-called wisdom theory is based on the theory of human intelligence.Wisdom is a kind of ability gradually formed in the use of knowledge.Mastering this ability,one can "Utilize heaven and earth,govern everything without doubt".In Xun Zi's theory of "Zhi",these levers of "Zhi" are not isolated from each other.People obtain knowledge through a series of cognitive activities,Knowledge is the result of cognition.Conversely,the accumulation of knowledge also enhances people's ability to understand;The wisdom is the highest form of Xun Zi's theory of"Zhi" and it is a embodiment of the flexible use of knowledge based on the rich knowledge gained.It can be said that Xun Zi's theory of "Zhi" is a complete system.
