| There’s been a rapid development in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.How to do a better job in Chinese language & culture promotion and attract students to learn Chinese for a long term has become a question worthy of continuous consideration by Chinese teachers.During in Bahrain as a Chinese teacher,the author discovered that Arab students’ enthusiasm for Chinese learning was limited.The atmosphere in the classroom was not enthusiastic enough,and there were very few students learning Chinese in the long term.The author reviewed relevant data on teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the Arab region,and related literature on interest in teaching,then extensively used the results of past research on teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Based on extensive communication with survey respondents,a questionnaire was produced to analyze students’ learning psychology.The result showed that although Arab students were interested in Chinese language and culture,it was a short-term and unstable interest for students to learn Chinese.The most common place for Arab zero-based Chinese learners in Bahrain to speak and use Chinese language is the Chinese language class.It is extremely necessary cultivate Arab students’ interest in Chinese language in the classroom.Therefore,teachers need to make full use of the Chinese language classes.The author also summarized how to help Chinese teachers to make their classes more attractive,how to improve textbooks,and how to cultivate students’ interest according to their own actual experience.The author also discussed how to gradually inspire Arab zero-basic Chinese language learners’ interest in Chinese learning in Bahrain through Chinese language teaching process to "catch" and "maintain" students’ long-term interest and improve their proficiency in Chinese.The author hopes this study can compensate for the lack of Chinese language teaching research in Bahrain and benefit the Chinese language teaching in Arab region. |
