Vocational school English vocabulary teaching is indispensable part of language learning.Meanwhile,vocabulary teaching plays an important part in secondary vocational school language teaching.Vocational English vocabulary teaching divide vocabulary into two parts:basic vocabulary and specialized vocabulary.According to vocational school students'test record,it shows that vocational school students vocabulary level is below the level required by the curriculum standards.Therefore,it is extremely necessary to find an effective method of vocabulary teaching.This paper designs to answer the following two questions:1.How is the general application of non-linguistic context in English vocabulary teaching?How are these contexts designed?2.How is the application of situational context and cultural context are used in basic vocabulary teaching and specialized vocabulary teaching?These two questions are solved by using class observation,interviews and teaching document review.The author chooses 3 English teachers in Yanji International Cooperation Technical School,Ms.Cao,Ms.Zhang and Ms.Wei.The class observation lasts for four months.There are 27 class observation records.Zhang Caiyun's and Hu Chundong's classification of situation is used in this paper to classify these cases.And Lu Guoqiang's classification of cultural context is used in this paper.Multi-case juxtaposition is used in this paper.This paper according to Zhang Caiyun's and Lu Guoqiang's classification to analyze these cases.By analyzing cases,the study draws the conclusion:1.Situational context and cultural context are used when teachers teach English vocabulary.Situational context are more frequently used than cultural context.2.When teachers teach vocabulary using non-linguistic context,the elite teachers used more widely and methods more diverse than novice teachers.3.When teachers teach basic vocabulary,they involved the scope and subject of speech activity more rapidly.And they did not involve the formality of speech activity when teachers using situational context.Teachers involved custom and human feelings more rapidly.And they did not involve the values.When teachers teach specialized vocabulary using non-linguistic context,teachers involved the time and place of speech activity as much frequent as the scope and subject of speech activity when teachers using situational context.And teachers involved the style of speech activity as much frequent as the formality of speech activity when teachers using situational context.It is only involve custom when teachers using cultural context.According to analysis of cases,the author puts forward some suggestions on vocabulary teaching in non-linguistic context.1.Schools should pay more attention to the training of novice teachers and pay more attention to the growth of new teachers.2.Teachers should improve their intercultural awareness and enrich their intercultural knowledge.
