In the context of economic globalization and the rapid development of science and technology,plenty of excellent works of English for Popular Science(EPS)have been introduced into China.EPS works aims to popularize scientific knowledge so as to promote the popularization of science,thus the improvement of its translation quality will help improve the overall quality of teenagers.Therefore,the translation practice report,based on the translation practice of EPS text,has introduced the reception theory as the guide and discussed the strategies for EPS text translation.Starting from the main features of EPS text,this report analyzes the acceptability of teenagers first;then typical translation examples have been selected from the translation practice,and the specific translation approaches have been adopted to make the translation more acceptable and readable for teenagers.In this report,the author aims at solving the problem of how to improve the readability of popular science translations on the levels of lexicon,syntax and discourse from the perspective of reception theory.There are four chapters in this report.Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the text of the translation project,the main requirements and difficulties the author encountered during the translation period are also mentioned in this chapter.Chapter Two gives a literature review of popular science and its translation,and the theoretical framework is also presented here.To prove the guiding role of reception theory in the translation of EPS,Chapter Three analyzes the characteristics of the source text first.In accordance with traditional Chinese expression and young readers' receptivity,some proper translation strategies proposed in this part with specific examples.In the last chapter,the major findings and limitations of this study are presented.
