With the development of the times,the cultivation of the spoken English of senior middle school students gradually connects with the world and transports a large amount of young blood to ordinary colleges and universities.However,the current situation of oral English teaching among ordinary senior middle school students is worrying.The status quo of using PPP(Presentation,Practice,Production)teaching is extremely common.Most students' oral English practice is limited to 45 minutes in class,so there are widespread "dumb English" and "deaf English" on campus.Oral English teaching should comply with the requirements of the times and abandon the traditional teaching method and decisively apply POA(Production-Oriented Approach)teaching method proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang.The purpose of this study is to find out the impact of POA teaching method on the ability of senior middle school students' oral English.Research questions are:1.Compared POA teaching method with PPP teaching method,which one has better teaching effect in the oral English teaching in senior middle school?2.In what aspects the implementation of the POA affects senior middle school students'oral English production?3.How do the students evaluate POA teaching method?This research object is XX grade 2017 grade two students and two classes are natural classes.According to the Common European Framework of Reference,students in both classes need to reach level A2.The experimental group and the control group were taught by one person.The control group used the traditional teaching method to carry out the traditional PPP English teaching while the experimental group adopted the POA teaching method and the experiment time was 16 weeks.This study uses both quantitative and qualitative methods.Quantitative research to take the experimental study including the test before the experiment and the test after the experiment.The context of oral test questions is for the PETS test.The results of the two oral tests using SPSS 18.5 software for data analysis.Qualitative research is a semi-structured interview aimed at understanding more about how POA teaching method affects senior middle school oral English learning.The results of the oral test before the experiment showed that the oral output ability of the two classes was basically parallel in terms of fluency,complexity and accuracy.The conclusions of this study can be listed briefly as follows:1.In general,POA teaching method is better than PPP teaching method in senior middle school oral English class.2.In speaking,POA teaching method can improve the ability of fluency and sophistication of students' oral English.The result of the oral test shows that under the POA teaching method,the fluency and sophistication of the spoken English are all improved.But POA foreign language teaching method and PPP foreign language teaching method to improve the accuracy of spoken English basically have the same effect.The reason needs further investigation.3.The students in the experimental group held a positive attitude to the POA teaching method.And their motivation for learning English was markedly enhanced.In the experiment,The author still has the following puzzles and deficiencies:Firstly,The teacher should grasp the degree of scaffolding so that the role of teachers in the POA class just do a good job;Secondly,how many materials should be offered by teachers in the enabling stage;Thirdly,when teachers design topics,which kinds of topics have cognitive challenges in addition to cross-cultural communication topics;Fourthly,how to accurately judge the feeling of"starving" of students.This is the confusion that appeared in author's experimental processs which is also related to the author's teaching experience and technology.The experimental conclusions need further verification.It is hoped that the results of this study can enlighten senior middle school teachers on oral English teaching and raise the students' productivity,at the same time improve the quality of oral English teaching in senior middle schools.
