An Analysis Of Harbin Foreign Trade In Modern Times (1905-1931)

Modern Russia's massive capital export to Harbin broke through the closed door of Harbin and made it complete the transition from small fishing village to modern big city.As the political situation in the far east is unpredictable and complex,the hub of Harbin in the northeast of northeast China has gradually become the international "public shopping mall" on top of the "spring shenli".Since 1905,Harbin has undergone tremendous changes in foreign trade.Based on the Harbin consular report,this paper looks at the development of modern foreign trade in Harbin(1905-1931).This paper is divided into four parts.The first part mainly discusses the conditions of the development of modern foreign trade in Harbin.On the one hand,from the consular report on the overall analysis of Harbin area,on the other hand,it also elaborates the reasons for the formation of Harbin international city.The second part introduces the main development stage of Harbin foreign trade.Through the analysis of historical materials,the process of trade during this period can be divided into four stages,the first phase of 1905-1905 period of years is the rise of foreign trade in Harbin,this stage from Harbin to open port has been to the front of the xinhai revolution,is the rise of foreign trade in Harbin,characterized by the articles of association of the foreign trade gradually perfect in Harbin,Harbin open gradually increased,the size of foreign trade countries gradually increase with Harbin.The second stage is the initial development period from 1911 to 1918.The U.S.has invested more in Harbin in this stage.Harbin's foreign trade is booming.The volume of trade and customs revenue has increased substantially.The category of goods exported has also undergone significant changes,and the export commodities have been gradually developed from grain and local specialty to agricultural and by-products.The third stage is from 1919 to 1923,was a period of twists and turns of foreign trade development in Harbin consular district in Harbin,still have a large number of foreign trade surplus mainly comes from special international environment after the first world war.The fourth stage is from 1924 to 1931,which is the peak of Harbin's foreign trade.But the peak of the boom was the world economic crisis of 1929 and the Middle East road crash.Without these two events,Harbin could have achieved even greater development.From 1905 to 1931,the development of Harbin's foreign trade in this period has fluctuated,but it is showing a trend of growth both in import and export.The third part discusses the characteristics and influence of Harbin's foreign trade.Although Harbin trade open port although late,but the speed of foreign trade development in Harbin,in addition to Harbin by domestic and foreign political influence is bigger,on the other hand is always accompanied by Harbin consular district foreign trade with Russia,Japan and the United States.At the same time,it has had a profound impact on Harbin and the participation of foreign trade.
