Now China has entered an accelerated period of social transformation,the modern value system characterized by scientism and rationalism are gradually replacing the traditional belief and local knowledge in China.The eternal growth,development and wealth have become the ultimate goal of the whole society.Although modernity brings great freedom and equality to people,all this may not satisfy the need of human nature for feelings of mind and emotion.Therefore,more and more scholars are paying close attention to the sacred belief that looks different from science and reason.In addition,under the background of globalization and deepening modernization,as the central field of human modern life,it is involved in the dilemma of "no local space"-the city is constantly refurbished and remolded,the cultural tradition is dispelled,and the urban residents are experiencing the "local destruction".The humanistic geographers,represented by Duan Yi-fu and Relph,will help to maintain and build the local areas.In this context,the local and Locality studies have been paid more and more attention by geographers.As a typical sacred place of the Hui community in the city,the urban mosque is strongly impacted by modernization,and it is an important field to be explored.Therefore,in this context,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the presentation and formation of the sacred locality of the mosque,to understand the space for carrying the sacred faith of the Muslims,and to promote the inheritance and development of the sacred locality in the city.In order to reveal the existence and formation of the sacred place of Beida temple in Zhengzhou in the context of modernity.In this paper,we take the most rapid development of Henan city and the deepest city of Urbanization Zhengzhou as the case background,and take the method of deep interview and participatory observation to study the cultural landscape of the Beida temple and the Muslims of the behavior subject.In view of the first-hand material in the field investigation,the paper adopts grounded theory to this article.The core dimensions are summarized from three levels,namely,location,place and place.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn.(1)The construction of sanctity identity in Zhengzhou Beida temple can be represented by location,place and sense of place.In the specific presentation dimension,the location includes the actual location and site,place includes the architectural landscape,the religious activities and the physical experience,and the sense of locality includes the feeling and the sense of belonging.The unique location characteristic is the construction of the sacred foundation of Beida temple.The place is the concrete display and experience of the sacred locality of Beida temple,and the sacred local sense can endow the temple with the meaning of "home" through the attachment of emotional space,in order to resist the "no root sense" of modernity and urban society.(2)The heritage of history and the cultural landscape left are the basis for the formation of the sacred locality of Zhengzhou Beida temple.After hundreds of years of historical accumulation,Zhengzhou Beida temple has formed local memory,and constructed a material space with distinct Islamic characteristics by means of the spatial representation of religious symbols.The Beida temple,which is constructed by the material and symbolic memory space(or landscape),is not only a sacred space about the ancestors and homes,but also the brand of a local historical memory,which has become the characterization of the place.At the same time,the sacred locality formed on the basis of cultural landscape,in turn,strengthened and changed the sacred local experience,and then reproduced the sacred locality of the Beida temple.Make it a more specific and more suitable environment for people's cognition and experience.To a certain extent,echoes the importance of material space to local construction.(3)The residence pattern and the secular reflection are the local characteristics of the sacred place of the Beida temple.The local ideas of the Muslims formed by the long history and culture have endowed the local sacred spirit,creating and popularizing the sacred nature of the Beida temple through real religious activities,so that it can be strengthened and alive.In addition,in the context of the continuous development of modernization and urbanization,Muslims are reflect on secularization and demonstrate the role of their subjective construction in the daily religious life.The satisfaction of the "mind" experienced in Beida temple becomes an effective tool for consultation and adjustment of the living experience of real life,and in its identification and assistance.Pushing down shows the sanctity of Beida temple.It can be said that it is precisely because of the existence of Muslims that the sacred place of Beida temple is alive.(4)In the process of the sacred place of Zhengzhou Beida temple,the state as a structural power played a very important role in the sanction of the sacred place.First,the local entity elements and their overall cultural orientation are formed.Secondly,the formation of its orientation also affects the sacred local identity of the internal and external department of Peking University to a certain extent.
