Practice Report On Seminar On Leadership Promotion—Based On Gile's Effort Model

With the globalization of English,interpreting plays an increasingly important role in social and economic development.Daniel Gile established Effort Models according to the characteristics of consecutive interpreting.In order to promote further research on interpreting,Gile put forward Effort Models inequality.This inequality intuitively shows that the relationship between the energy distribution of various tasks and the ability of interpreters in the process of consecutive interpreting,which has made a tremendous contribution to the further development of consecutive interpreting.In October 2017,the author participated in "Seminar on Leadership Promotion of State-Owned Enterprises' Senior Executives for Developing Countries,2017" held by Department of Commerce of Hunan Province during which the author served as consecutive interpreter.The foreign-aid training project of Department of Commerce of Hunan Province was established by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC to further enhance the exchanges and cooperation between China and the vast number of developing countries and promote the "Belt and Road" initiative,and let the world know more about the development of China's state-owned enterprises.The purpose of this report is to combine Gile's Effort Model Theory with the author's own interpreting practice.By analyzing recordings,notes and other materials,the author summarizes the accent obstacle in listening and analyzing effort,figures barriers in short-term memory effort,and intercultural communication barriers in production effort.The analysis shows that interpreters can coordinate each stage of the energy distribution only when they fully understand the source language information in consecutive interpreting.Interpreters should save energy by means of interpreting strategies such as literal translation,transliteration and other way such as concise notes so as to achieve effective distribution of energy.According to the corresponding theory,the author classifies and analyzes mistakes,and finds out coping strategies such as adequate preparation for interpreting,improvement of basic abilities such as listening,memory and coordination,practices on coordinating different efforts,flexible application of interpreting strategies and others so as to improve their ability of interpreting.
