Problems And Coping Strategies Of Business Interpreting

Against the backdrop of economic globalization,business interpreting has played an important role in business activities.The final purpose of business interpreting is to promote communications between negotiators and reach agreements or cooperation interests.Skopos theory holds the opinion that intention decides translation methods.It provides translators with great flexibility to choose appropriate methods.Thus,Skopos theory can guide interpretation practice,especially business interpreting practice.This report is based on the business interpreting practice of 2017 China Liaoning Investment and Trade Fair which was jointly hosted by Bank of China and the People's Government of Liaoning Province.The author was assigned as a volunteer interpreter by School of Foreign Languages to participate in this fair.During the process of interpreting,the author meets two major problems,including the ambiguous reference of the pronoun and redundancy.Combining with the Skopos theory and the features of business interpreting,the author applies coping strategies such as supplementation,omission and sentence reconstruction in this business interpreting practice.Combining these coping strategies,the author can deliver the main idea of the negotiators and make the business negotiation run smoothly and effectively.
