The interpreting practice report chooses the author's interpreting experience in College of Fine Arts and Design of Shenyang Normal University.The author attempts to analyze the interpreting practice on the basis of the author's experience.This report will address the combinations of interpreting theories and explore the problems that are encountered in the consecutive interpreting experience as well as the propose of some coping strategies.Under the guidance of Daniel Gile's Effort Models,combining with the study of cognitive process of consecutive interpreting,the author describes how cognitive overload phenomenon appeared in consecutive interpreting.According to this phenomenon,through the analysis of the listening,memorizing,and producing process in this E-C consecutive interpreting practice,the author finds that there are three problems occurred in the practice,including high information density,high speech complexity,and high pressure and nervousness.These factors influenced the interpretation quality.Combining with interpreting theories mentioned above,three available coping strategies are raised to decrease the cognitive overload phenomenon: construction of knowledge schemata,optimizing the allocation of attention,and application of feasible interpreting skills.The report is divided into four parts.Part one is task description which contains the introduction to the interpreting task and task requirements.Part two is process description.First is to introduce the preparation before the interpreting practice which plays a very important role in the interpreting practice,then is the introduction of the interpreting process,the last is the assessment from both the client and the interpreter herself.Part three is case analysis.First is the general introduction to the theoretical framework,second is the causes of cognitive overload phenomenon in the interpreting practice,third is the strategies for coping with cognitive overload phenomenon,last is the implications of this part.Part four is conclusion,including major findings,limitations,and suggestions.
