Sculpture Language-the Mud Self-Exploration

"Mud" is the main material used for modeling in clay sculpture art,and it is also one of the most commonly used materials in sculpture creation.Moreover,mud is a language medium in the process of sculpture art creation.Being familiar with muddy is a basic skill that a sculptor must have.Sculpture(clay sculpture)art is an ancient art of plasticity.It is the medium for direct communication of human spirit and emotion.In this paper,the author visited and consulted the sculpture department of the major eight art universities.At the same time,the author combined his own long-term experience of researching and creating in the Tongguan clay processing factory in Changsha,compared the classic works in the sculpture art creation,and focused on an overview of the use of "mud" as a modeling material and its application in Chinese cultural sculpture art.The types and characteristics of "mud"were analyzed,and the muddy nature of the outstanding works of domestic and foreign sculpture masters using "mud" as the creative material was analyzed:expression method,aesthetic context,and artistic expression.It also investigated the conditions for the production of sculpture mud and clay.A statistical study of the graduation works which use“mud”as a creative material of the major eight art universities sculpture department in the past three years were made.And combined with his own artistic creation and the use of "muddy" to make in-depth research.At the same time,he described his feelings and achievements in exploring the muddy themes creation.The aim is to create excellent sculpture works in the form of "muddy".The full text begins with the "mud" perspective and studies the types and characteristics of mud in the field of sculpture art.Starting from the"mud" itself,it expounded the expression,creation techniques and spiritual connotations of "mud" in the long history of Chinese sculpture.The paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter briefly discusses the background,significance,purpose and methods of this study.The second chapter outlines the concept and connotation of "mud";The third chapter mainly discusses the application and development of "mud" in clay sculpture and Chinese traditional sculpture field;The fourth chapter investigates and analyzes the types of sculpturing mud,the molding process,and the use of sculptured mud over the last three years in the major eight art universities;The fifth chapter explores the "quick plasticity" and emotional expression of "mud" in masterpieces;The sixth chapter summarizes the related artistic creation theory,picture materials and other resources,and also carries out the research of creative practice.
