In English teaching,teachers are required to practice student-centered idea and attach importance to students' differences in perceptual learning styles.According to Senior High School English Curriculum(2017),students are asked to improve English autonomous learning abilities.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the correlation between students' perceptual learning styles and English learner's autonomy.Based on the theory of constructivism and humanism,the author aims to survey the overall situation of students' perceptual learning styles and English learner's autonomy by using questionnaire and searching literature reviews.It is hoped in some degree to reveal the correlation between students' perceptual learning styles and English learner's autonomy,thus broaden its theoretical applications.Besides,the research will provide references for English teaching in senior high school.This paper focuses on the following three questions: Firstly,what is the overall situation of students' perceptual learning styles? Are visual and auditory learning styles the main perceptual learning styles? Secondly,there are five dimensions among learner's autonomy: understanding teachers' purpose and requirement;setting learning goal and plan;using learning strategy;monitoring the use of learning strategy;monitoring and assessing the learning procedure.Based on these dimensions,what is the the present status of English learner's autonomy? The last question is whether there is any correlation between students' perceptual learning styles and English learner's autonomy? If there is,what kind of correlation do they have? In order to explore these questions,Xu Jinfen's English Autonomous Learning Questionnaire(2004)and Reid's Perceptual Learning Style Questionnaire(1984)are adopted and the investigation is conducted among 220 senior high school students in a middle school in Jiangxi Province.Then 201 questionnaires are collected and analyzed.The final results are as follows: firstly,the students prefer auditory learning style and the followings are kinesthestic,tactile,group and visual learning styles.Secondly,the situation of English learner's autonomy is not satisfactory.But there is higher average in the dimension of understanding teaching purpose and requirement.Finally,it is found that there is a strong correlation between English learner's autonomy and perceptual learning styles.Especially the visual learning style has the highest correlation with learner's autonomy.However,the group learning style has the lowest correlation with learner's autonomy.According to the findings,some suggestions are put forward concerning English teaching.
