The English Curriculum Standards require teachers to adhere to student-oriented,pay attention to individual differences,optimize classroom teaching,attach importance to teaching students in accordance with their aptitude,strengthen the guidance of learning strategies,improve teaching efficiency,and cultivate students’ independent learning ability.Perceptual learning style is an important factor to identify learners’ individual differences.The previous studies showed that the perceptual learning style has an important influence on students’ language learning and development.Therefore,it is meaningful to investigate the perceptual learning style of senior high school students.This study conducted a questionnaire survey among 663 senior high school students in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture(QDNMDAP),and selected 20 students from them for semi-structured interviews.This thesis aims to explore the relationship between senior high school students’ perceptual learning styles and English vocabulary learning strategies.The main research purposes of this study are as follows:(1)To investigate the current situation of the students’ perceptual learning styles and English vocabulary learning strategies in senior high schools.(2)To explore the differences among students’ perceptual learning styles in terms of gender.(3)To explore the relationship between students’ perceptual learning styles and English vocabulary learning strategies.(4)To explore the factors that cause the students’ perceptual learning styles.Through descriptive statistics,independent sample T-test,correlation analysis,regression analysis and thematic analysis,the results are as follows:1)According to Reid’s evaluation criteria,senior high school students’ perceptual learning styles are major perceptual learning style preferences;English vocabulary learning strategies are generally at a moderate level;among them,senior high school students prefer auditory learning style,followed by tactile learning style,group learning style,kinesthetic learning style,visual learning style and individual learning style.Cognitive strategy was most frequently used,followed by social strategy,resource strategy,metacognitive strategy was least frequently used.2)There are significant differences in perceptual learning styles between male and female,and the level of perceptual learning style of male is higher than female.3)There is a significant positive correlation between perceptual learning styles and English vocabulary learning strategies.Except for kinesthetic learning style,the other five perceptual learning styles can predict the use of English vocabulary learning strategies.Visual learning style and group learning style can better predict the overall use of vocabulary learning strategies.4)The main factors that affect the perceptual learning styles of senior high school students are students’ understanding of the perceptual learning style,students’ preference for the learning style and teachers’ guidance.Based on the present results,the researcher puts forward three suggestions:1)Teachers should focus on girls’ use of perceptual learning styles,which helpful for the balanced development of girls’ perceptual learning styles to improve their English learning efficiency.2)Teachers should train Audio-visual Teaching Method with students,which help students to use vocabulary learning strategies to learn vocabulary.3)Teachers should pay attention to the individual differences of students,which helpful for teachers to English vocabulary teaching according to the individual differences of students.
