As we all know,vocabulary learning plays an important role in language learning.The Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard(2011 edition)clearly states that students in the compulsory education stage should learn to use 1500 to 1600 words and 200 to 300 idioms or fixed collocations and be able to use vocabulary to understand and express different purposes,attitudes and functions.However,because of the influence of traditional teaching methods,many teachers in our country often teach vocabulary in isolation while teaching English vocabulary,but ignore the specific context of vocabulary,which leads to poor learning effect.Therefore,it is an urgent task for English educators to explore a scientific and effective vocabulary teaching method.Based on this,this research aims to explore how to use context theory to teach English vocabulary in junior high school,so as to arouse students 'interest in English vocabulary learning and improve their vocabulary ability.This paper expatiates the development of context theory and the current situation of researchers at home and abroad in English vocabulary teaching,and classifies the context and illustrates its important role in vocabulary teaching and vocabulary learning.On the basis of this theory,the thesis mainly analyzes the following problems through real English class cases in junior middle school:1.Application of language context factors(including lexical context,grammatical context and verbal context)in English vocabulary teaching cases.2.Application of non-linguistic context factors(including the situational context and cultural context)in English vocabulary teaching cases.Through the above analysis,the author finds that vocabulary teaching in the context is helpful for students to understand the exact meaning of words and pay more attention to the specific usage of words.It improves the students' ability to use the words properly in the context and to stimulate the students' interest in learning English,so that it improves the quality of the English teaching.The author expects that this essay can help more English teachers realize the importance and necessity of context in English vocabulary teaching,so as to improve the traditional English vocabulary teaching methods,and improve the students' interest in vocabulary learning,help students memorize and apply vocabulary,so that students can really improve their language level and communicative ability.The author also hopes that the easy can provide some reference for English teachers in junior high school.
