The workplace is one of the most important living environments,in which intergenerational differences can bring both communication and conflict.Therefore,It not only has an important impact on the individual's work attitude and behavior,but also has a positive or negative impact on organizational management.At present,four generations of different age groups can be found in the workplace of our country.They have different growing environment,social experience and economic difference.Different generations of employees have different needs for work,and different demands on the motivation and leadership of the organization.At the same time,when colleagues of different age groups use their own inherent age concept to represent other generations of colleagues,It is easy to cause misunderstandings and conflicts,and this diversity of labour force poses a challenge to organizational management.Therefore,the atmosphere in the workplace should be positive for employees of all ages,which can not only improve the efficiency of employees,but also improve the innovation ability of employees.PurposeThrough the translation and revision of workplace workplace intergenerational climate scales,the reliability,validity and item quality of workplace workplace interpersonal atmosphere scales were tested to verify their scientificity and rationality.this paper can make a preliminary exploration on the intergenerational atmosphere of the workplace in China,and provide a reference for the workplace to explore the variables of the mixed effect of age diversity.Using the WorkplaceIntergenerational atmosphere scale as an empirical study,to explore the adaptability of the Workplace Intergenerational atmosphere scale under the Chinese cultural background,and to analyze the relationship of organizational support and innovative behavior.It can provides a new reference for Chinese enterprise managers to deal with a series of intergenerational problems in the workplace.Methodthrough the literature method,the domestic and foreign literatures are searched,the research and application trends of the workplace intergenerational atmosphere at home and abroad are understood.After obtaining the consent of the author of the original scale,the scale is translated and revised.The Chinese scale was revised through cultural adjustment,translation and pre-survey,and finally formed a pre-test version of 17 items in 5 dimensions.Then,a questionnaire survey was conducted among units and enterprises in a certain area in Henan Province.The sample size was 200 copies of pre-survey,respectively 300 official investigations.The statistical analysis of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out for the data collation after investigation.The reliability and validity of the final revised scale were tested to determine the attribution of each dimension and item of the scale.ResultsThe reliability of the revised Workplace Intergenerational atmosphere scale is 0.728,showing good reliability.The correlation coefficient between each dimension was0.019-0.503,which was lower than the correlation between each factor and the total questionnaire.It indicated that there were differences and relations among the dimensions of the scale,and it had relative independence and good structural validity.In addition,the correlation coefficient between each dimension and the total questionnaire score was 0.329-0.666,so the content validity was ideal.By analyzing the total scores of intergenerational atmosphere,innovation behavior and organizational support perception in the workplace,the results show that,There wasa significant positive correlation between workplace intergenerational atmosphere and innovation behavior(r=0.292,P<0.01),and significant positive correlation between workplace intergenerational atmosphere and organizational support perception(r=0.351,P<0.01).There was a significant negative correlation between innovation behavior and organizational support perception(r=-0.192,P<0.01).Organizational support perception plays a part of mediatingrole in the intergenerational atmosphere of workplaces,including intergenerational sentiment and intergenerational connections,and innovative behavior.Conclusion(1)Translating and revising the workplace intergenerational climate scale has good reliability and validity.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between workplace atmosphere and innovation behaviors and organizational support perceptions.Organizational support perception plays a part of mediatingrole in the intergenerational atmosphere of workplaces,including intergenerational sentiment and intergenerational connections,and innovative behavior.
