The Resurgence Of Paintings On Circular Fan During And After Daoguang And Xianfeng Period

This dissertation concerns the resurgence of paintings on circular fan during and after Daoguang and Xianfeng period.This dissertation will unfold in three parts:1.Reviewing the history of paintings on circular fan,and tracing the style sources of them for later Ch’ing painters.2.Investigating the social context of circular fan paintings’ resurgence.3.Clarifying the connection between circular fan’s form and painters’ innovation through case studies of Rens’ family,Zhao Zhiqian,and Ju Brothers.As a conclusion,this dissertation points out that later Ch’ing painters achieved artistic innovation with circular fan paintings.
