Huang Yi(1744-1802),was from Qiantang,Zhejiang.He was a epigrapher and calligraphy and painting seal carver during Qian Jia periods of Qing Dynasty.He was one of the Eight Masters of Xiling.He had profound attainments in textual research on inscriptions,calligraphy,seal carving and painting,and ancient style was advocated in his calligraphy creation.He was one of the clerical script calligraphers during the middle term of Qing dynasty.On the background of the prosperity of visiting ancient stone inscription and textual research on epigraphy during Qian Jia periods of Qing Dynasty,based on the literature and plate materials of poetry,preface and postscript,calligraphy work,edge-inscription of seal carving,this thesis discusses Huang Yi's academics,intercommunion and those influence on clerical script through the research on his visiting ancient stone inscriptions,his collections and the ancient stone inscriptions of Han Dynasty involved in.On this basis,through analyzing his clerical script works,the thesis categorizes his clerical script creation into early,middle and late stages and then analyzes his views of creation and aesthetics on clerical script in different stages.Meanwhile,the thesis objectively discusses Huang Yi's achievement in clerical script and its influence on Yi Bingshou,Gui Fu and Deng Shiru,as well as its enlightenment on contemporary clerical script creation.
