Huang Yi was a eminent scholar of epigraphy and calligrapher in Qian-Jia period.His calligraphy is mainly seal-script and clerical-script.Through the extensive learning of clerical-script calligraphy of Han steles,Huang Yi’s Clerical-script is quiet and gen tle,which is fickle in strokes.This paper aims to analyze Huang Yi’s artistic characteristics of his works.Theories of calligraphy and the scope of his training and achievement,through his calligraphy works,letters and literature.The article discusses his works from the following four aspects : First,collecting and organizing Huang Yi’s calligraphy viewpoints.Influenced by epigraphy,he pursues the style of Han stele is simple,natural and unsophisticated.He also tracks the source of character in a stele.The concept of learning widely from others he had contributes to a unique calligraphy view.Second,analyzing Huang Yi’s social engagements and exploring the official script exchange between him and his friends.Third,analyzing the scope of his training and achievement from Huang Yi’s art works,.Among them,the passage focuses on "Huashan Temple Tombstone" "Loushou Tombstone" "Ode to Xi Xia" "Inscription of Mount Wuliang" and "Memorial Stele of Cao Quan",which comes to the conclusion that Huang Yi’s clerical script has the typical artistic characteristics of seal writing and square structure.Fourth,it talks about the impact on his own creation by analyzing Huang Yi’s ancient concept and practice which are combined with contemporary calligraphy works. |
