Mou Zongsan And Tang Junyi's Interpretation On Yi Chuan's Neo-Confucian Theory

Cheng Yi as the representative of neo-Confucianism of Song and Ming dynasties,Mou Zongsan and Tang Junyi detailed analyzed his neo-Confucian theory,and their views is sharp contrast.Especially in the ontology and method of moral cultivation,they are diametrically opposed.On the ontology,Mou Zongsan protested that 'xin'.'xing' and 'qing' is different,'xing'just being and not moving.What's more,'xin' is acquired and experiential,so li and xin just is unity of association.YiChuan's method of moral cultivation builded on the experiential xin,became generalized epistemology.Tang Junyi,thought that YiChuan's xing not only obstained ontological meaning by means of li,but also was active because affected as qing and qi by a single xin's silence and dynamic.Tang Junyi attached great importance to Yi Chuan's moral inward and outward cultivation,with composing the inside and outside,achieving the whole of xin.Yi Chuan's xin is ontological and moral when it is inside itself.Therefore,Mou Zongsan's and Tang Junyi's interpretation on Yichuan's thought,seems to be an irreconcilable contradiction.I find out that there are differences between the two people's view in Yi Chuan's ontology and moral cultivation,by analyzing the interpretation of Mou and Tang.However,it can be found that the interpretation of two people is consistent in the method.Mou and Tang are both justified the moving of xing by the gasification,both justified the metaphysics of xin by the li;and both justified the morality of cultivation by the knowledge gained.At this standard,the two people have consistency and penetration.Furthermore,the paper concludes that the differences between Mou and Tang in the interpretation of YiChuan are mainly due to their differences in the ontology and method of moral cultivation.Mou likes ontology,with ontology including moral cultivation,but Tang just the opposite.This reflects the reason of the differences between their explanation on Yi Chuan.However,two approaches are not either one or the other,but are mutually compatible and constitute a circle.
