Tang Junyi, as "a Giant of the Cosmos of Cultural Consciousness", the most outstanding characteristic of his thoughts is his reflection on religion. Through his exquisite understanding of life, he regarded man as moral and religious existence, religion is a transcendent expression of human's disposition, then he formed systematic views about it. He made deeper research on this subject after moving to Hong Kong, the he expounded the religious connotation of Confucianism, drawing on the theory of "Pan Jiao" of the Hua Yen School and Hegelism wisdom, he set up his huge system of "Pan Jiao" which named "Xin tong Jiu jing". In his whole life, Tang Junyi had never given up his research on religion; the remarkable characteristic of his thoughts is grasping the intrinsic transcedence and the supreme state of "Heaven and man are oneness" in transcendent introspection. The article is divided into three chapters. Chapter one expounds the development of Tang Junyi's religious thoughts. His intimate experience of religion has a direct bearing on his particular disposition, which developed in step with the key concept of his cultural philosophy "Ego of Morality". His intrinsic intention of reflecting on religion was trying to revive moral idealism of Confucianism and offer a possible form of conformity to people in crisis. Chapter two discusses his general theory of religion. He expounded theories such as religious consciousness in detail, then made a study of comparable religion to confirm the indispensable value of each religion, he detailed on the religions connotation of Confucianism, stressing its remarkable characteristic, which is "morality is religion' and "philosophy is religion". Chapter three expounds his thoughts of "Pan Jiao". He regarded "Renxin Benxing" as standard of judging religious consciousness, then he put this standard to his "Pan Jiao " of Christianity and Buddhism and Confucianism, he thought religion and morality and philosophy is a trinity in Confucianism, which may be a common theoretical foundation for all religions. In my concluding remarks, I analyze his key concept of his cultural philosophy, "Ego of Morality", then I draw a conclusion that Confucianism is short of resources to answer for the challenge of modern society's individualism and personal freedom, so it's unable to offer ultimate value for modern people, it's unable to become a common foundation of all religions.
